Here’s Some Stuff I Bought

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

I was in a rainbow sort of mood when I was in Halifax; can you tell? Then again, when am I not in a rainbow sort of mood?

The Celestial Merino Dream post-winding, some Fleece Artist odds and ends, Twilley’s Freedom Wool, Opal, and some Caron Watercolors floss.
When you add in the books, magazines, and cross [...]

Cat-coloured Yarn

Sunday, May 13th, 2007

Recently, I went to Cricket Cove looking for “soft, cat-coloured yarn” because I want to knit a kitty. (Actual knitting = garter stitch. Stuffing and seaming = bleh.) I decided on some Louisa Harding Kimono Angora for what I hope will be a calico cat kind of look.

When I will find the time to knit [...]

Don’t Look Gift Yarn in the Mouth

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

Apparently all the job interview preparation worked somewhat, because instead of being unemployed, I am now underemployed. In all seriousness, although I haven’t started my new part time job yet, I expect to enjoy it.
Tomorrow is my birthday, and I received some birthday yarn. I’m not one to look gift yarn in the mouth, but [...]

Mega Man Is Two-faced

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

Or rather, Mega Man’s face is two-toned. I can’t decide which colour to use for his face, which is why I’ve still got a few stitches left. I did half of his face in the colour that I thought would look best (DMC 3855) and then half of his face in the colour that PC [...]

IN THE YEAR OF 200X…

Tuesday, March 20th, 2007

This is the video game sprite cross stitch I started the other day. It’s on 18-count pale blue Aida, although it doesn’t look pale blue here.

For anyone who’s played the game, it should be obvious what character this is, even only half-finished, but for anyone who hasn’t played, this is Mega Man from Capcom’s Mega [...]

The Continuing Saga of Eeyore

Sunday, March 4th, 2007

To distract from the lack of scarf photos, I present you with my further progress on Eeyore.

I only have a bit of blue left to do on the outside of his ear, but it’s mostly fractional stitches and it’s a total pain in the ass. I recently made a mistake on the ear and fixing [...]

We Can’t All, and Some of Us Don’t

Friday, March 2nd, 2007

There are a couple of scarves that I finished actually knitting ages ago (seriously, one I finished in October) but I think they could use some light blocking before I consider them ready to wear or to photograph. I hope to get around to that this weekend, but in the meantime, here is some pretty [...]

Tigers Sort of Moo

Friday, December 15th, 2006

The Goldielocks shawl is going infuriatingly slowly because I have to keep checking to make sure I’m not adding extra stitches. Curse you, curly, skinny, slippery (but oh so pretty) yarn.
The scarf I started last night appears to be the perfect antidote, though.

Patons Soy Wool Stripes, Natural Earth colour, in seed stitch. On big needles. [...]

Yarn + Books = Joy

Sunday, October 29th, 2006

There have been a couple of yarn sales at Michaels recently. This is a good thing. Not all of my recent purchases are pictured below, however — there was also some Patons Soy Wool Stripes in Natural Pink, but it will get its own photo someday. And maybe it’ll get a little shrine, as well. [...]

Scarf Central

Sunday, October 22nd, 2006

The winter holidays are upon us, by which I mean, “I knit so slowly that if I really wanted to make scarves for anybody for Christmas, I really should have started before now.” I didn’t, though, so from now until the Yule/Hanukkah/Christmas/whatever season is over, it’s all scarves, all the time. Admittedly, the scarf I [...]
