In Which I Threaten Yarn

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

Way back in October 2006, I knit a scarf. Three balls of Katia Mexico in a 2×2 rib. Upon finishing the knitting, instead of weaving in the ends (of which there were only six), I chose to ignore it for a billion years. I finally got around to weaving in the ends of the Rainbow [...]

My First Socks

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

How I love them. The Road Potato Socks actually fit on human feet, specifically my human feet. This is both unexpected and charming.

They do manage to be two slightly different sizes, though. One is a little too big and the other is a little too small. (When I say “a little,” I really mean that. [...]

Groundhog Day

Monday, August 6th, 2007

Maybe Groundhog Day is supposed to be in February, but I don’t care. I had my own Groundhog Day in August. Yesterday my boyfriend and I went to Rockwood Park and I made friends with a groundhog. Isn’t he just the cutest thing ever? (This is the groundhog, not my boyfriend.)

Well, the cutest thing ever [...]

Wedding Belle Blues

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

I have the worst timing in the world. I just spent several days in Halifax, and the day after I got back, Stephanie Pearl-McPhee announced that she’d be in Halifax on August 7. (Hrm. I wonder what the venue is. So far it just says “Details to come” on the Harlot on Tour page.) If [...]

Instant Gratification

Monday, June 25th, 2007

Yes, I know it’s weird to have a post titled “Instant Gratification” when it’s been so long since my last post, but of course these really were quick knits. I’ve just been lazy about photographing stuff.

Ria is knitting a bunch of wee little hats to send to London for a charity campaign organized by innocent [...]

It Really Does Exist

Monday, March 12th, 2007

The seed stitch scarf I made in Patons SWS exists, that is. I used most of two balls of the Natural Earth colourway and it’s 15 stitches to a row on 9-mm needles. I didn’t measure it, but I’ll estimate it at approximately five-and-a-half feet long and five inches wide.

It’s ironic that it took forever [...]

I hate January.

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

I hate winter in general and January in particular. I’m not depressed, just unmotivated. The idea that tomorrow it won’t be January anymore is perking me right up, although I’m not extremely fond of February, either. I’m at least motivated enough to finally post some photos I took while visiting my parents over the holidays.
I [...]

It’s Not My Bag, Baby

Friday, October 20th, 2006

Although I finished this purse many many weeks ago, today I came to the disturbing realization that it didn’t feel like a finished object until I had taken pictures of it for the blog. This probably has less to do with exhibitionist tendencies than it does with the fact that I refused to use the [...]

In Which There Is No Such Thing as Natural Light

Monday, June 26th, 2006

I know that one is supposed to take pictures in natural light whenever possible, but it hasn’t been so possible lately. Even when it isn’t actually raining, the sky seems to be thinking about it. So my photos don’t have the most accurate colour possible, and also feature my shadow looming over the scarf like [...]

Provocatively Irreverent

Thursday, March 30th, 2006

On Saturday, I went to the library in Dartmouth, which I never do, because they have a really good children’s reference section there, which I needed to use to work on assignments for my Services and Resources for Children course. The Dartmouth trip also had another purpose besides schoolwork. See, the library is very close [...]
