Green

For a while, I was focusing on cross stitch, specifically this pony, which is not hard at all, but the browns can wear on you after a while, so I’m taking a break from it until I finish my hat.

Amelia Helmet in progress

I love this hat kit. Although maybe I shouldn’t be saying that before I’m finished, in case I do something horribly, horribly wrong to the hat and then start to hate it. I bought it at Cricket Cove in Saint John. It is called the Amelia Helmet, and it is from Fleece Artist. It’s going to be a hat with earflaps, and it’s made mostly of Kid Aran (mine seems to be in the Rainforest colourway) with a bit of Dreadlocks for the contrasting colour (mine is light blue). It is soft and pretty and so far it is making me happy. If I find out that my hat doesn’t fit, I will be less happy. So far, however, I am loving my green hat. It’s hard to tell from the picture, but my stitch marker (made by Steph) even matches the yarn quite well. I’m not sure why this should seem so nifty, but it does.

Can you believe I’ve never made a hat before? I don’t know if this is just laziness or backwardness or what.

I was knitting at Heather’s last night, and I finally officially met canknitian, which is kind of funny. She had seen me on the bus before, but since I can be the least observant person in the world at times, I didn’t notice her the last time we were on the bus together, even though I’d seen her picture by this point and should have recognized her. And if I had, I could’ve sat next to her instead of having to sit with that really smelly guy! The bus was a nightmare the Friday before last. It was an hour and a half late, there were a bunch of drunk people on it, and, as I have mentioned (but it bears repeating), the guy who sat next to me smelled bad. And the drunkest girl on the bus occasionally wandered away from her own seat in order to sit on his lap, and I was totally afraid that Drunk Girl was going to throw up on me…

Aargh. Don’t think about the bus. Take cleansing breaths. Breathe in the good, non-smelly air. Think happy thoughts.

I just noticed that the Ravelry logo has a little shamrock on it for St. Patrick’s Day at the moment, and I am tickled… green.

Confidential to Ball of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran: You think you’re so smart, don’t you? Well, we’ll see who gets the last laugh. You have not outwitted me. I just haven’t been looking for you, not since that time you made me clean my room. Trust me, I’ll find you yet. When I get around to it. I’m a very busy woman, ya know.

It was great to meet you, too, and to hear stories about your grandfather.

I can’t say I blame you for loving this hat… and the fact that you have a coordinating stitch marker. That is exactly the kind of thing that makes me ridiculously happy.
    Sorry about Smelly Guy.
