The Sockening

The first Road Potato Sock is off the needles, although I’ve still got two ends to weave in. When I get around to doing that, I’ll take a finished object photo of it.

The Road Potato Sock, pre-toes.

It bags slightly at the ankle (it’s somehow exaggerated in the photo; it’s really not so bad in real life), so maybe next time I’ll try a bit of decreasing in the ankle area. This picture was taken before I even started the toe, and the finished sock foot is just a tiny bit longer than I’d like it to be. It’s no big deal — I wear plenty of pairs of socks that are looser than these — but I just feel that since they’re handmade and I do have the opportunity to custom-fit them exactly the way I want, I should do that. Whether I make any modifications to the measurements of the second sock will depend on the striping situation. If they’re looking like identical twins, I’d like to keep the matchiness going, but (and this is far more likely) if they’re looking fraternal, then I’ll say, “Screw it,” and concentrate on the fit.

I should really go to sleep now, so how about I shut up and leave you with some pictures of the harbour?
