Instant Gratification

Yes, I know it’s weird to have a post titled “Instant Gratification” when it’s been so long since my last post, but of course these really were quick knits. I’ve just been lazy about photographing stuff.

bottle of Monty Python's Holy Ail wearing a hat

Ria is knitting a bunch of wee little hats to send to London for a charity campaign organized by innocent drinks, a British smoothie company. For each innocent drinks smoothie with a little woolly hat sold in Sainsbury’s and EAT cafés, fifty pence will be donated to Age Concern, “the UK’s largest charity working with and for older people.” I’d actually heard about this before and thought it was a cool and simple idea, but postage costs to London freak me out a little. Since Ria is sending a bunch anyway, and she said if I knit a few she can send them with her batch, this makes the postage thing less scary. Pattern for tiny hats is here.

This is the only DK weight yarn I have (Sirdar Snuggly in a heathered light blue) and I should get some more the next time I’m at Michaels or Wal-Mart so there will be some variation in my future little hats. This one does not have the best seam I’ve ever sewn (possibly the worst) but it’s going to be worn by a bottle. The bottle will not care.

yellow, orange, and white slip stitch dishcloth

Although I finished the slip stitch dishcloth ages ago, I haven’t used it on a dish yet because my boyfriend wants to run it through the washing machine first. I’m going to do one in shades of blue next. These dishcloths are so much fun.

Yeah, normally I’m okay at seaming, but for some reason, I can’t seem to get it right when I’m seaming these little hats. But you’re right, the bottle won’t care, and I’m sure that I won’t have the worst seams out of all the hats that get sent in. :p

I do have some bits and pieces of DK yarn that I doubt I’ll be able to knit up all of, so if you want some of my stash to save you from going out and spending more money, you’re welcome to it.
