Happy Birthday, Ria!

Happy Birthday, Ria!

Go wish Ria a happy birthday!

I got a considerable amount of work done on Live Simply on Tuesday, because I had an unexpected day off. I couldn’t go to work for a completely ridiculous yet completely legitimate reason: I stubbed my toe. But I stubbed it really hard, shortly before I was supposed to go to work. I decided it probably wasn’t broken (I think it’s sprained), took some ibuprofen, and got ready for work.

Then I tried wearing shoes. This made my toe turn purple and throb so badly that I felt faint, despite the ibuprofen. Since we have to wear shoes at work and even my sandals would cover at least part of that toe, I decided it would be better to stay home and put ice on it, as I could not imagine spending the next seven hours wearing shoes. So I put some ice on it and did some cross stitching and reading and stuff. The swelling went down quickly, but it’s still purple. My toe and I were fine at work yesterday, but today we have to work at the bookstore, which involves a lot of standing. Poor little toe.

My camera’s batteries are dead, so I have to buy more batteries before I can take another progress picture of Live Simply. Maybe I’ll actually remember to buy them today. I really want to get this finished before I get back to other knitting and stitching stuff because it’s my first cross stitch project that isn’t teeny-tiny, and it will feel like an “accomplishment” to have it completed.

I wonder how much Ria loves having my Ria’s-birthday entry be mostly about My Purple Toe. Oh, yeah, Ria, feel free to save the birthday graphic, of course. Photo from stock.xchng and by swer_rock.

Thankee! *saves image* Mmm, yarn. :>

Ouch, purple toes are no fun at all! I can sympathize with the toe pain, and the not being able to put shoes on. For the past few years, each of the nails on my big toes have been badly infected and ingrown, and have just recently been snipped by a podiatrist and are starting to get better.
