I Have Misplaced My Floor

Huh, what do you know? I was actually right about something. My decision to start the little cotton purse over on bamboo needles instead of metal needles turned out to be a good one. It has fixed my problems. Well, unless correlation ≠ causation in this case and there is some other reason why my problems are fixed, but the fact remains that I am now using bamboo needles with the cotton yarn (Bernat Handicrafter in Summer Splash) and everything now looks more or less as it should.

Summer Splash wants to be a purse

I realize that the one inch of bad garter stitch and five inches of stockinette are very boring, but damn! look at those colours. The striping is a bit more violent and frequent than I expected it to be, but I don’t find it unappealing. It just caught me a bit off guard. I thought the stripes would be more gradual and spaced further apart, but I was wrong. As for the bad garter stitch, no one will be able to see it when the purse is closed, so I am ignoring it and assuming it just looks like that because I haven’t found my groove yet. If I discover upon reaching the next garter stitch bits that using cotton yarn mysteriously robs me of my ability to do something as easy as knit garter stitch properly, then I will cry.

Speaking of which, just looking around my apartment makes me want to cry. I am moving out of here in about three weeks, and despite mentioning in my previous post that I am “packing all my stuff,” that was really a horrible lie, and what I am actually doing is “thinking about packing all my stuff.” Also, when I remove an object from the place where it belongs and put it, say, on the floor, then I don’t bother putting it back later because I am only going to pack it up in a box very soon anyway, so what’s the point in trying to keep things organized right now? So my floor looks like this.

Can you find my floor?

Or rather, I have no idea what my floor looks like. I assume it is somewhere under all that debris. I could not successfully prove beyond the shadow of a doubt that there truly is a floor under there. To be entirely fair to myself (whether I deserve it or not), I should also mention that my bedroom is impossibly small and that of course not all of my floor looks like that. I only took a picture of the absolute worst spot, because it’s by far the most amusing.
